Steve began attending Bridgeport Community Chapel as a young boy.  He came to know the Lord as his savior at a Bible camp when he was 11 years old.  Steve graduated from Western Baptist College (now Corban University), taught 5th grade at Salem Academy, and later taught at Falls City Elementary.  He served as the youth leader at Bridgeport for ten years, then was the pastor of Grace Family Fellowship in Falls City for the next 13 years.

He returned to Bridgeport when the Lord called him to serve with InFaith in 1999, where he continues to serve to

this day.  His work with InFaith involves supporting pastors from small churches on the Salem field, directing youth camps and retreats, mentoring and encouraging men, and beginning a grandparent ministry at Bridgeport.

When Jonathan was hired to be the new pastor at Bridgeport, following Pastor Ron Sutter’s retirement, Steve was hired as a 1/4 time Associate Pastor, to come alongside Jonathan and support him in his first pastorate position.  Working with Jonathan has been a highlight for Steve, as they meet weekly to pray and talk together.

Steve and Kay married in 1978,  They have 5 grown children and 14 grandchildren, who are the delight of their lives.

One of Steve’s passions is encouraging others to memorize God’s Word.  He is intentional about challenging young people (and adults) to develop faithful habits in their lives, reading God’s Word, spending time in prayer, memorizing scripture, and living lives that honor the Lord.

“What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”  2 Timothy 2:2
